Radio Monitoring Back Up from our Monitoring Provider, TOP SECURITY

Monitored alarm systems are only as secure as the telephone lines that connect them to the central station.

Foreseeing the need for a 2nd line of defence, Top Security was the first Central Station in Ireland to be authorised for long range Radio Alarm Monitoring.

In 1989, Top pioneered the use of radio for monitoring alarms and sought approval from the then Dept. of Communications to make UHF frequencies available for the first time for alarm monitoring purposes. Now we, Lock Up Alarms, offer this service virtually nationwide through a network of high site repeaters.

Long range wireless radio monitoring, provides a highly secure, highly reliable backup to the central station and eliminates the 'weak link' in conventional alarm systems.  Radios are positioned so as to make location and access difficult.  This means that even if an intruder knows where the radio is they will not have time to reach it before it sends in an activation signal.

When an ordinary alarm activates, a signal is sent down a phone line and through telephone exchanges before arriving into Top Security's Control Room.

Where a radio is installed it too generates a signal.  This signal reaches Top Security by relaying itself through repeaters to our long range masts in Dublin and Cork.  As well as being more secure than phone signals, radio signals travel more quickly from the point of activation to the Central Stations thus generating a faster response.

The Big Telephone Alarm Company

A certain big telephone company has an advertisement being played on national airways claiming that they are the only Intruder Alarm Company in Ireland who can monitor your home or business burglar alarm system, and how all other Companies only have bells that ring, ring, ring outside and how no one will respond to the activation.

This advertisement couldn't be further from the truth! I can guarantee that 99.9% of all properly licensed intruder alarm companies in Ireland would only be too happy to monitor your intruder or fire alarm to a registered monitoring centre.

When fitting a burglar alarm to a house or business, Lock Up Alarms standard system will always include a real and decoy external bell box, which will provide an audible and visual indication and deterrent.

However, the same mentioned big telephone company DOES NOT include a working external bell box in its standard price, (and if you look for a real working bell box, be prepared to pay a hefty price for one) so in the event where a burglar decides to cuts the phone line prior to entering a premises which has no working bell box, who's going to respond to it??

The monitoring company, which Lock Up Alarms use for monitoring their intruder and fire alarms, is Top Security

Protection Tips from Lock Up Alarms

Protection Tips

Adhering to the following advice, in conjunction with the installation of a professionally monitored alarm system, can greatly increase security and make your property much less easily targeted by burglars.

Don't leave a key outside your home even if you think it's well hidden. Instead leave one with a trusted neighbor or friend. Most places you might hide a key can be uncovered by an experienced intruder. Make sure you close and lock all doors and windows that are accessible from outside your home.

Leave a light on in your home at night after you retire. Lighting is a deterrent to intruders and should be used when you're away from your home. Timers are inexpensive and lighting can make potential intruders wonder whether the home is occupied. A radio should be controlled by a timer when you are away as well.

Deadbolt locks should be used on all doors. Windows should be well secured with latches. You might also consider shatterproof glass. Make sure you replace the batteries in your smoke detectors on a regular basis. A good time to do this is when you set your clocks forward in the spring. You should periodically check your locks to see if they have been tampered with.

Do not admit any stranger to your home that you are not expecting. In the event that a person represents themselves as an official employee of a utility or public agency, ask for identification. Do not be reluctant to refuse entry if you cannot verify by telephone that they are who they say. Use a chain and peephole whenever answering your door.

Test your alarm system at least once every month, Lock Up Alarms recommends weekly.

Make sure to have a friend or neighbour pick up your mail and any newspapers or packages when you leave your home unattended.

Arm your alarm system, whenever you leave the home and when you retire for the night.

Security Tip From Lock Up Alarms

Some burglaries are committed by keys being hooked through small window openings or front door letterboxes. Remember to keep your keys in a safe place, well away from doors and windows. When you go to bed, switch on your Alarm and put your keys some where safe and secure and out of sight!!
